You’ve done the lake loop, the kids have gone up and down the treehouse slide about nine times, and everyone’s hot. Good news — Woodleigh Mall is right at the edge of the park, linked by a bridge. Head down to B1 and I Love Taimei is there: Taiwan Popcorn Chicken, XXL fried chicken cutlets, and bubble tea. Open daily, 11am to 10pm.

Why does Bidadari Park make you so hungry?

Because it’s bigger than it looks on the map. Bidadari Park is a 13-hectare wooded park that opened in September 2024, built around Alkaff Lake — a 1.8-hectare stormwater pond that doubles as the prettiest bit of flood infrastructure in Singapore. There’s roughly 5km of trails through it. You don’t mean to walk all of it. You always walk all of it.

The park was designed around the old woodland — more than 300 existing trees were kept — so it stays a stopover for migratory birds. From about September through March, shrikes, warblers and flycatchers turn up here after flying in from as far as Russia. There are birdwatching pods along the trails and a 20-metre raptor nesting platform, the first in a Singapore park. So if you’re reading this in September, you’ve timed it well, sia.

The park’s open 24 hours (NParks), lit from 7pm to 7am outside the nature areas. Most of it is wheelchair-friendly, though the Woodland Experiential Trail and the Marshland Boardwalk aren’t. Buses 100, 135 and 155 stop nearby, and Woodleigh MRT is the station you want.

One honest heads-up: Alkaff Lake is a real lake, not a water feature. Keep the little ones close along the water’s edge.

Where’s I Love Taimei in Woodleigh Mall?

Basement one, unit #B1-K32. The full address is 11 Bidadari Park Drive, Singapore 367803 — yes, the outlet is literally on Bidadari Park Drive, which makes this the easiest post-park food decision you’ll make all year. Open Mon to Sun, 11am to 10pm.

We’ve been doing Taiwanese street food in Singapore since 2009. Women-owned, co-run by Phoebe and Yadah, 14 outlets island-wide now. Woodleigh is one of them.

What should you order?

Taiwan Popcorn Chicken (鹽酥雞). Start here. Bite-sized pieces, fried with fresh basil leaves in the oil — that basil is the whole point, and it’s the thing that makes it taste like a Taipei night market instead of generic fried chicken. Shareable, so nobody has to commit. Good for kids too.

Extra Crispy Chicken. Thicker batter, maximum crunch, and it’s XXL. If someone in your group has properly earned their lunch by doing the full trail loop, this is theirs. Prefer it plainer? Original Chicken lets the marinade do the talking. There’s also BBQ Chicken if you want bold without the heat.

Everything fried gets a seasoning powder, and you pick: Mala (numbing-spicy), Seaweed (savoury), Cheese, Garlic Seafood, or Sour Plum. Sour Plum on the popcorn chicken is the one regulars quietly order. Sweet-sour, cuts the oil. Try it once before you default to Mala.

Sides. Golden Sweet Potato Fries ($4.60) with Sour Plum powder is the canonical pairing. Tofu Fries ($3.90) are the most overlooked thing we sell — fluffy inside, crisp outside. Shake Shake Fries and Mini Hashbrown are both $3.90 and both vegetarian. Taiwan Seafood Tempura ($5.30) is 甜不辣 — Taiwan-style fish paste, not Japanese tempura. Contains seafood.

Drinks. You’ve been walking in Singapore heat, so: Brown Sugar Milk Tea ($3.90 M / $4.90 L) is the signature. 1988 Milk Tea ($4.50 / $5.50) is our house blend. Plain Jasmine Milk Tea ($3.50 / $4.50) if you want something lighter after all that fried chicken.

All our food is prepared with no pork and no lard, and we don’t serve beef either. To be straight with you: we are not halal certified. But the no-pork, no-lard kitchen is real, which is why mixed groups and multi-faith family outings tend to work here. More on that in our no-pork bubble tea guide.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Woodleigh Mall from Bidadari Park? They’re neighbours. The park connects to the mall by a bridge, and the mall sits at Woodleigh MRT on the North East Line. Our outlet’s address is on Bidadari Park Drive itself.

Is there anything vegetarian? Yes. Tofu Fries, Shake Shake Fries, Mini Hashbrown, Enoki Mushroom, Golden Sweet Potato Fries and the Mushroom Combo are all vegetarian. The Taiwan Seafood Tempura is the one side that isn’t.

Is I Love Taimei halal? No — we are not halal certified, and we’ve never claimed to be. What we can tell you is that every item is prepared with no pork and no lard, and no beef is served.

What time does the Woodleigh outlet close? 10pm, seven days a week. The park’s open round the clock, but the fried chicken isn’t, so plan accordingly.

Is the popcorn chicken spicy? Only if you ask for it. The basil-fried popcorn chicken is mild on its own — the heat comes from the Mala powder, which is optional. Read more in our popcorn chicken guide.

One more thing

If Woodleigh’s out of your way, we’re one stop up the North East Line at NEX in Serangoon — here’s what to eat there.

Otherwise: finish the loop, cross the bridge, take the escalator down. We’ll be at B1.
