The quickest way to decide what to eat at Waterway Point is to start with how much time you have. If you’ve got an hour, a sit-down restaurant is worth the wait. If you’ve got fifteen minutes before the train — or a kid who’s already asking — head to Basement 1, where the takeaway counters are. I Love Taimei sits there at #B1-K5, open 11:00 to 22:00, seven days a week.
Where should you start at Waterway Point?
Punggol’s mall is unusual in that it’s built around the waterway rather than facing away from it, so a lot of the eating here happens on the way to somewhere else — the promenade, the LRT, home. That changes what “good food” means. A ninety-minute meal is a different decision from a paper bag you can carry outside.

What’s on the menu at I Love Taimei, Waterway Point?
We’re at 83 Punggol Central, #B1-K5, open 11:00–22:00, Monday to Sunday. It’s one of our 14 outlets across Singapore. Everything is prepared with no pork, no lard — worth knowing if you’re feeding a mixed group. What to order:
- Taimei Stars — $6.90 each. Taiwan Popcorn Chicken, Original, Extra Crispy, or BBQ Chicken. The popcorn chicken is fried with basil in the oil, which is the Shilin night-market signature rather than a garnish.
- Golden Sweet Potato Fries — $4.60. Ask for Sour Plum powder on them. That pairing is the one we recommend by default; the plum’s sourness cuts the sweetness of the potato.
- Tofu Fries — $3.90. As we’ve put it before: “probably the most-loved item on the menu that most people overlook. Fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside.” Vegetarian, and cheap enough to add on.
- Taiwan Seafood Tempura — $5.30. This is 甜不辣 (tian bu la), fish-paste based and Taiwan-style — not the Japanese batter dish. Contains seafood. We wrote a fuller explainer on Taiwan tempura if the name throws you.
- Brown Sugar Milk Tea — $3.90 (M) / $4.90 (L). The default pairing with chicken.
Chicken and sides take five seasoning powders — Mala, Seaweed, Cheese, Garlic Seafood, Sour Plum — and four spice levels, from non-spicy to extra hot. Toppings for drinks run $0.80 (M) and $1.20 (L).
What should you order after a walk along the Punggol Waterway?
If you’ve come off the promenade at Punggol Waterway Park, you’re usually warm, a little tired, and not in the mood to sit under air-conditioning for an hour. The order that works: one XXL chicken cutlet, one side to share, cold drinks all round. It travels, it’s eaten standing up without a fork, and nobody has to agree on a cuisine.

Is there anything vegetarian? Yes. Shake Shake Fries, Mini Hashbrown, Tofu Fries, Enoki Mushroom, Golden Sweet Potato Fries and Mushroom Combo are all vegetarian. The Taiwan Seafood Tempura is the one side that isn’t.
